Yeah the VW Bluemotion series of engine are amazingly efficient, the price you pay is higher, but it may work out cheaper in the long run. VAT is going up in Jan, then more incremental fuel tax rises plus the percieved price of oil is going to esculate. I'm also in the market for a more fuel efficient car.

Yes, I have something like the older cousin of this car, an Audi A2 1.2 TDI. VW and Audi belong together, so their engines are quite similar. My little car, even if it's almost 10 years old, has a 20 liter tank and that's usually enough for the entire month to get to work.

A while ago he asked me what he should have printed on my business cards. I said 'Wizard'. I read books which nobody else understand. Then I do something which nobody understands. After that the computer does something which nobody understands. When asked, I say things about the results which nobody understand. But everybody expects miracles from me on a regular basis. Looks to me like the classical definition of a wizard.

"33 hours and 53 minutes at an average speed of 45mph" No way for me.

He was trying to break a record and this speed was the optimum for that. It does not mean that this is everything the car has to offer :)

          That's a lot of compensating.

Nobody does. He wanted to break a record and chose his speed to get optimal efficiency. The car can go faster and still is efficient, but not enough to break any records.

Nevermind, I jumped to the conclusion that he drove 45mph all along, which is BS.

Well I do run a 2.5L 16ft long 4x4. Might cost a bit more to run but then again servicing costs are nothing, repair costs are nothing and initial purchase price was cheap considering the vehicle you get for it.

The coal truck in the left lane struggling to pass the 44mph coal truck in the right lane on a 10* upslope. I really hate when this happens on the highway.
