I knew you would chime in with that... This isn't socialism or fascism. This is capitalism taken to extremes. He didn't pay for fire protection, so they let his house burn down. If it was socialism, they would have come anyway, and just charged it to the taxpayers. If it was fascism, they would have burnt his house down themselves for failure to pay.

If his "fire protection" is a separate fee, that means his taxes are reduced by the amount that would normally go to the fire department.

Seems pretty logical that his taxes would be higher if the city was providing fire protection without an extra fee. If you think they're double-charging, let's see some evidence.
