...but an editor/Chris might want to check this posting out. http://www.codeproject.com/soap/betterxml.asp?msg=338862#xx338862xx[^] I know .SRod. is unhappy in the change to the download guidelines but the language in the post at first read struck me as worded in preparation to uploading damaging code. I'm sure I'm just being paranoid and reading more into this thn there is, but maybe it would be a good idea if someone try to smooth some feathers here before this gets real ugly. Mark

I think you're reading way too much into it. He's essentially disclaiming all ownership/responsibility of those articles and everything associated with them until CodeProject has an "safe" user policy. I certainly don't know him well, but I never got the impression that he would be purposely vindictive and attempt to hurt people on purpose. I don't think that there is any reason whatsoever to worry about him uploading malicious code. His being upset is absurdly off-base, in my opinion. Membership on CodeProject does not require the disclosure of any personal identification other than an email address. Further, posting the article on CodeProject does not in any way, shape, or form prevent him from posting it somewhere else. -- Russell Morris "Have you gone mad Frink? Put down that science pole!"

There's no way I'm deleting someone's articles just because they are voicing their displeasure with something we're doing here. He has the right to voice his thoughts. If he requests his articles removed then I'll reluctantly do it - but I would hope that we can find some middle ground before it comes to that. Stephane is a smart guy - I can't see him being childish about this. cheers, Chris Maunder

At the moment everything you download from CodeProject is, by necessity, "at your own risk". Stephane's comment seemed a little weird but I'm sure he meant no harm in it. Even so, there are liability issues if you deliberately upload something that you know to be damaging. cheers, Chris Maunder

The man may be a little rude at some times, but I think we all can be. I don't think he's gonna screw something up on purpose (Aside from the voting system on his "OnBeforeNavigate2 Fix" article). So I think he's just voicing his displeasure at the new way of doing things.

I happen to agree that what he said doesn't at all sound like a threat. But it struck me more as a "Until I get my way, I'm taking my balls and going home" attitude. It might not be the greatest thing that you have to be a member now. But what is the alternative? Pay board just to offset the bandwidth costs? I don't think so. Tim Smith I'm going to patent thought. I have yet to see any prior art.

*nods* I only quickskimmed the message text but the language just struck me as a bit odd and gave me a slight pause. anyway, my intention of posting wasn't to imply he would do something, just that Chris or an editor might want to talk to him/her (which is it?) and try and smooth a few feathers. Mark

Do you honestly believe Chris would refuse to delete them if requested ? Christian No offense, but I don't really want to encourage the creation of another VB developer. - Larry Antram 22 Oct 2002 Hey, at least Logo had, at it's inception, a mechanical turtle. OK, maybe not as easily, but it's certainly doable. - Jamie Nordmeyer - 15-Nov-2002

The man is a moron, that's my view. He has made a not insignificant contribution to the site in terms of articles, but it hardly gives him the right to act like this. If he feels so bad about something that I regard as meaningless ( you don't even need to provide a working email to join, so what is his problem ? ), he should just go elsewhere. Pure and simple. That's what a man would do, instead he is acting like a whiny little girl.
