Yeah, reminding myself wasn't good. You fry the leeks in butter, then build up layers of leeks with the spinach, and crumbled blue cheese. Then pour the butter used for frying over the top and stick it in the oven.

Disaster!!!..... forgot lunch! And now I am obviously starving! I've found a tin of Lentil Soup in the back of the draw and I'm planning on teaming it up with a packet of broken Cheddars as croutons (they have been in the draw for weeks so they are already pretty much broken up ) ..... What do you think? Bet you've all got yummy lunches planned!

Home-made bacon and potato chowder, with fresh herby bread and butter...

Real men don't use instructions. They are only the manufacturers opinion on how to put the thing together.

Get some chocolate to add to the soup. That should be a full meal.

At least it seems eatable. When I move to my cubical the former person had a pack of salad dressing that was so old it was ready to explode. Personally I keep a pack of oatmeal for emergencies. Luckily I can walk to a couple of different "restaurants" (Is Waffle House[^] really a restaurant?).

And no kidding on the expiration dates. I opened a bag of Sun Chips last week and was a little confused after the first bite. I didn't remember Sun Chips tasting so much like peanut shells. The expiration date? March 2009. Perhaps I should clean out my desk drawers.

I skipped lunch today. Somebody took his turn to buy the traditional snack: Weißwurst + Brezen http://www.jupo-bayern.de/index.php?id=269[^]

A while ago he asked me what he should have printed on my business cards. I said 'Wizard'. I read books which nobody else understand. Then I do something which nobody understands. After that the computer does something which nobody understands. When asked, I say things about the results which nobody understand. But everybody expects miracles from me on a regular basis. Looks to me like the classical definition of a wizard.

OK, problem solved. I've just made lunch; two slices of toasted wholemeal bread, liberally spread with butter and a little English mustard, layered with two slices each of nice ham, and further layered with several thin slices of rich cheddar, and popped in the microwave for 1' 20" to melt the cheese, served with Branston pickle on the side. I made an extra one for you, which I have just popped in the CD-ROM drawer. As soon as I can get the drawer closed, I will drag and drop it into Outlook and email it to you. You'll have to provide your own Branston, though. ;P

Yes, but traditionally it is served before noon only. That comes from the times before refrigerators to make sure everything was freshly made the same morning. Here in Munich we have the custom that all new members in the team buy such a second breakfast once their trial period is over.

How is this a disaster? I haven't read all the replies, so someone else might have pointed this out....but there are these things called bank notes...they can be exchanged for food at many stores, restaurants, deli-counters etc. Alternatively you can eat the bank notes directly. If you are not receiving bank notes in exchange for your work I suggest you talk to HR immediately. If you are receiving bank notes but don't have any left, then that could be a disaster. Do you spend many hours late into the night drinking alcohol and surfing EBay? If so you might have to try and exchange that Jumpsuit-era Elvis Lamp with matching sugar bowl for food. -Richard
