It's Official - Marijuana Is Legal In Arizona

Legalize the lot. Then tax it. Result: Better quality on the street at cheaper or the same prices. Lower health costs as a result of badly cut rubbish. Lower policing costs. Less organised crime. Increased government revenue. Downsides? None that I can see. And before anyone gets started on "dope heads bias", I don't swallow, smoke, snort or jab any illegal substances. Or rub them on, if that would work.
Real men don't use instructions. They are only the manufacturers opinion on how to put the thing together.
I have been a proponent of legalization all my life, or more accurately, an opponent of prohibition in any form. No prohibition has ever failed to create a new class of criminal, engender huge expenses for law enforcement, reduce personal freedoms for all, and imprison otherwise decent citizens. It never works, and never will. Substance abuse is a moral choice, and legislating morality is an impossibility. Drugs don't interest me, as I prefere my reality undiluted, however ugly it may be from time to time, but I'm tired of being taxed to death to pay for police and prisons whose primary job seems to be locking up kids and idiots.

I had forgotten government greed, I admit. However, you effectively have that in illegal drugs at present. "Base price for a kilogram of cocaine: $610 and ends up on the street at $110000" (Source[^]) - which kinda puts even the UK government tobacco larceny into some kind of perspective!

But only if you're really ill: Voters Approve Medical Marijuana[^] This will be interesting to watch firsthand. Opponents claim dire consequences will result, just as those who opposed California's move to "decriminalize" pot 20 years ago claimed. They predict a huge increase in drug use, heightened crime around the dispensaries, hordes of people driving impaired, and all sorts of wild terrors. It didn't happen in The Peoples' Republic; I wonder what will happen here? I find it entertaining to listen to the wild predictions of nutjobs on both sides of the issue, and I predict that nothing much will change, except that some very ill people will find relief that doctors can't otherwise provide, and some boneheads who are already using the stuff will find ways to scam the system and continue their old ways legally. As a bonus, a bunch of California kids who visit the river here each year, thinking it's safe to bring a little dope with them, will not be surprised by a ten year prison sentence when they get caught with it in AZ. It's my guess that judges will have trouble justifying harsh sentences after this change sets in... Let the mayhem begin - I've got a ringside seat! :-D

Yeah, maybe now my brother will move over here... :~ But, yeah, most drugs should be handled like alcohol -- do what you want in the privacy of your own home (or have a designated driver), but don't try to drive or otherwise endanger others.

Nothing new there. They were the first ones to elect Ronald Reagan. They had Jerry Brown, too, after his dad bankrupted the state while he was in office. Jerry did the same in true family tradition the first time around, and now they've given him the reins again. You can't blame pot for that... maybe it's the water.

Went through the same dire warnings when medical marijuana was approved in Washington State. Cops have busted more dispensaries than actual users since. Flynn
