You really are a cock aren't you. Killing convicted Child Molesters and Murderers is not the same as stoning a woman to death for adultary or cutting children to pieces in front of their parents for crimes against a sky pixie. Or are you saying that State Execution is the same as a bunch of rag-headed peasants who terrorise people who do not kiss their dirty, unwiped camel shagging arses? You are such a twat, and an ignorant one at that.

I'm in two minds on this, because it's about morals. I share your morals and moral outrage at the things you mention, but that doesn't mean they're right (or that further morals, which call for things like death for adultery are wrong). Humans appear to be the only animals that have morals. How do other animals feel about rape, or sex with minors? They don't, because there's no such thing, there's only sex, which they appear to manage quite well at, because lots of species exist. It's humans that decide what is moral, and then impose it on other humans -- and, because we feel so strongly about them, I, for one, would happily agree with death for child molestation, for example. Does than make me a terrorist, wishing to terrorise and kill people who don't kiss my @rse and obey my morals?
The moral of this story is that none of us really has a clue what we're doing; we just do it.

No, it makes you intelligent. Removing these people from society has several effects. Firstly, and simply, it removes them from society, thus ensuring that they cannot inflict harm and suffering on others. Secondly, it sends a message to others that these actions will have serious consequences. Thirdly, it administers the justice that society demands for all criminals, albeit in a permanent way. Fourthly, it will reduce crime in general if the punishments are increased, leading to a massive financial saving for all society. Morals do not come into it, laws do. There are things I do that others may find immoral, but which, to me, are perfectly acceptable. Similarly there are things others do that I find offensive. That is immaterial, a society decides which laws are required and agrees to abide by them, and if not, pay the consequences.

We said quite the opposite when we invaded Afghanistan. It was a case of "We don't like your morals, and we're bigger than you!" (Of course, at the time, they were saying "We don't like your morals, and we want to kill you all!", but that's just the other side of the same humans-suck coin.) But maybe they're right. Maybe women should be stoned for adultery. I'm not God, so I ain't qualified to make that decision.

Gets my vote. Child molesters, Rapists and Terrorists get marched out and shot. They could sell tickets and make a fortune! "Roll Up, Roll Up, see the little bastards and poke 'em with a stick!"

Hmmm.. 1. OK, I'll go along with that - removing violent criminals from society has to be good. (Although Prison works too there). 2. Yes, but I don't think violent criminals of this sort are exactly thinking rationally anyway. 3. Yes, and miscarriages of justice become a bit too permanent for my liking. 4. Can you provide any evidence of that. Anywhere in the World? Sorry to disappoint you prejudices, but there is absolutely zero evidence that a death penalty reduces crime. I guess you'll be even more disappointed if I told you that there does seem to be evidence that a generous welfare system does - but even that has little effect on violent criminals.

Apparently: "Inspectors were also concerned about the poor physical condition of the prison, litter and graffiti." So - they need a better grade of litter and graffiti? Your every day, common or garden litter and graffiti isn't good enough for Her Majesty's prisons any more? :-D

I live in Singapore where they use the cane regularly on minor offences. People are remarkably polite here, there is comparativly no petty crime and you can travel the public transport in complete safety. There are up sides to a benevolent dictatorship. I'm a very black and white type of person, if the offence is bad enough, kill em, don't sit them on death row for years, do it now. I was brought up with a liberal application of corporal punishment, pain DOES enhance learning.

Well, apart from a royal wedding annoucement, the Irish Government being bailed out by the EU, Lord Young's gaff and subsequent resignation it's been very quite on the newsworthy stuff of late
