So far in this series England have lost a wicket every 213 runs! It is the first time ever in any Ashes series that a team has scored over 500 in consecutive matches. And... It is the first time that double centuries have been scored in consecutive innings.

I can't be arsed to look up the facts, even though CricInfo[^] it bu a click away, instead I'll go from a memory that hasn't even been following the cricket. Test 1 - 1st innings 10/260 odd Test 1 - 2nd innings 1/520 odd Test 2 - 1st innings 4/550 odd So thats 15/1330 odd, so a wicket 90 runs or so.

I would think Cook is the one who is England's revival and not Peitersen (though I'm taking nothing away from this double tone). If Cook had got out cheaply, Peitersen would have been in too much pressure to perform - the fact that England was only behind by 50 odd runs when he came in to bat made it easier for him. What Cook is doing is what VVS Laxman does for India - soaking in the pressure of playing against Australia. Pointing must really hate these two chaps (Laxman and Cook)! :-D

You misunderstood my post. I was referring simply to the fact that KP has come back with a strong batting performance.

Well, I've had a refreshing bit of kip now thanks to rain stopping play in Adelaide. Well done to Cooky though, you've done really well; and what can I say about Peitersen? 213 not out - no test centuries since March 2009, he's certainly shown he's got what it takes.

I think you're over stating Pitersen's achievements, our bowling attack's a few rungs down the ladder from Bangladesh at the moment. Look's like we won't be able to take 20 wickets in the series let alone a match. We're playing so bad, I'm not even watching the match and I started playing competition in 1979 and watching it well before then.

Gah! KP peanuts, feking annoys us Saffas when he does well. Even when it is against the Aussies. ABA but we'd like to see Australia lose AND Pietersen crap himself. (Well done England. Hoping you can get a result out of this dominant performance.)

                    cheers, Paul M. Watson.

Big stories in the national press here are about unseasonally heavy rains devastating crops, our epic fail of a world cup bid (only one vote) and the cricket. One headline writer summed it up nicely: "This is how it feels to be English. We're whingeing about the weather, the World Cup and an under-performing cricket team."

Peter "Until the invention of the computer, the machine gun was the device that enabled humans to make the most mistakes in the smallest amount of time."

I've admitted I'm old since this site was started, I was born in 1968. And now that I think of it, I actually started in 1978. 1979 I played in the Under 11's, 1978 I played in the Under 13's.
