Help! So the other day I saw a post asking about a free wiki softare... and I said to myself, that would be much better than all these disjoint documents I'm creating for this project! So I says to my boss, how about we marry (gag me) all these documents into a wiki and then everyone at the remote offices can have access to what is happening with this project. So he is on board and I get the wiki downloaded, installed, and completely populated in 1 day, it was a long day, but hey, everything is ready for the big business meeting. Anyway, my boss looks at it and says, hey, a wiki isn't enough, how about we have discussion threads too! I think to myself, there is a discussion option on the wiki, but apparently it's not good enough (never mind nobody else has bothered to even create an account and help maintain/update the documents it contains). So now in an effort to keep everyone happy I'm looking for free forum software. It will be hosted and accessible only within the corporate network. Preferably it runs in .NET and IIS. === And in the off chance I get the forum up and running nicely, I fully expect to have to implement something different shortly thereafter, so keep your free software tools cap on X|

You might look at this[^] Open source Share Point alternative, played with it for a while on a home server and was pretty easy to set up and maintain.

I like what I see. This would essentially replace the wiki? It would be nice to have everything in a single place. Getting a forum along side a wiki (without custom work) will create the illusion of 2 separate tools. This thing looks to be an all-in-one collaboration point?

I've heard good things about Alfresco, but it is not really a SharePoint alternative.

It would be a lot easier to maintain a single application.

Code Project has their forum software in an article around here somewhere. Unfortunately, it is not up to date. Also, which wiki softare are you using? There may be a plugin for it. Or... OR... you could make your own. :-D

Trying to avoid the whole "make your own" bit as I'm whats left of a formerly large IT staff and there aren't 36 hours in a day (although that would be more fun than writing design concepts for a system that doesn't yet have requirements...) Otherwise, I took the advice for ScrewTurn a few days back.

Cool. The ScrewTurn Wiki forum is using phpBB. Maybe take a hint from them.

that's a major understatement. The version in Maunder's article is written in classic asp. X|
