My talk
-
My talk on Microcontrollers yesterday went really well. I was buzzing afterwards. I Got some good comments at the end, and the feedback ratings have been amazing. 8.5/9 so far. I can really understand why people do this kind of thing now. It's terrifying, but enjoyable at the same time. Looking forward to my next few now. (Collision detection on WP7 in February is booked, but I may also be doing something at DDD9 in January if I get the votes. Now that will be scary)

Congrats I admire people that can do public speaking...I'm uncomfortable even talking to myself. :)

I warned you about buying those 'discounted' boxer shorts.

Can you please webcast it so that CP can join in? :)
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's too late to stop reading it. My latest tip/trick Visit the Hindi forum here.

So do I. I'm just too scared of the darned thing. I've tried everything - even imagining my sitting audience as pumpkins - but nothing worked. I did terribly. :sigh:

I find that I get most nervous when I feel that there may be someone in the audience who knows more about the subject than me. So I end up with a weird backwards-paranoia about speaking, where when I'm talking to a bunch of high-level execs (who know next to nothing about development) I'm not at all nervous, but you put me in front of a group of regular day-shift devs, I get seriously cold feet. Probably comes from the 2 years I spent teaching.

I've got a talk tomorrow to 12-14 people, not a confident speaker prefer 2-3 people at the most.

And I didn't listen to you did I? Should have known there was going to be a problem when I noticed that one leg was longer than the other.

Well Done! I hope you realise that you will now be the 'Go To Guy' when these things need doing in future.

Yeah know what you mean. I didn't have AS MUCH trouble talking to the big wigs cause you could BS them but the troops know what the hell your talking about and will recognize the slightest bit of Caca El Toro.

Don't worry. I'm sure it'll go ok. Preparation is the key.

Talking to a bunch of pumpkins would also make me pretty unsettled.

My SiteThanks. I get really nervous too, but when it actually came to it I was prepared enough that I could just talk through the nervousness.

Thanks. No, I did another back in the summer, but although it went ok, I wasn't really happy with it so I resolved to be better this time.

Good for you! I used to do a fair bit of Public Speaking/Am Dram and you're right. Massive buzz when it goes well, or even when it simply doesn't go badly. :)
