As soon as you get atheism accepted as a religious "minority", you'll have grants coming out of the wahoo.

I'm not a stalker, I just know things. Oh by the way, you're out of milk.

So its not only the UK which is ludicrously PC. France Belgium and Holland have got it right banning the veil. We should all do the same. And as for porc, tell me, do plugs in sinks offend the poor lad aswell? After all it is forbidden in the Koran to wash in standing water.

The article bears all the hallmarks of being bollocks to me. In all probability Either the paper has misreported to hype the story or its an outright fabrication. For example This Islamic Jurisprudence[^] site would be offensive to Muslims due to the fact it states you can't eat "pork". I surrounded by Muslims and have yet to meet one offended by the mere mention of the word pork. Still, the paper has achieved its ends: it's gained some notoriety by causing outrage, everyone gets to go "tchuh the Muslims are at it again" and another anti-islamic flame-war will probably start. I'm heartily sick of this kind of shit. [edit] And there it is, the usual flame-war, and it article is all over the net.

Fact? No, you weren't there, you don't know what happened. "I am for doing good to the poor, but I differ in opinion of the means. I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. In my youth. I have observed in different countries, that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer." ~ Benj Franklin

My main beef was with the demonising a particular group, and the inevitable ill-thought out reaction that this has provoked on the Internet. I'd argue that one of the main backbones of European thought is a rational and critical perspective. If you we do not adhere to that we are betraying our culture.

as this is Spain, surely the fact that for half the last 1500 years it was a Muslim country should be taken into consideration?

Only if you think invasion, and the taking of a country be force, an appropriate way of conducting international relations. Manuel II Palaiologos described it well.

At one time or the other I did indeed consider moving to pixie land, but I'm really offended by the easter bunny. It's rumored he's a child molester. :-D

So its not only the UK which is ludicrously PC. France Belgium and Holland have got it right banning the veil. We should all do the same. And as for porc, tell me, do plugs in sinks offend the poor lad aswell? After all it is forbidden in the Koran to wash in standing water.
