From what I know you must apply for patent in each country so it might be rejected

There are many international agreements. Any patent filed in an EU country is covered over the whole of the EU.

Yes. Bear in mind, as well, that some countries are less stringent about patents than others, and seem to have no problems with blatant piracy.

I did not want to name them( did not want my gmail to be hacked) but thanks for mentioning it in open. Also Iran is known for advocating piracy.

You can always talk anything about North Korea, as much as you want. No one cares as no one there can read it.

If I find a new way of "doing something", then I have to patent in all the 200+ odd countries?

No, you don't have to do anything: you choose in which countries you file for a patent, and your invention will be protected in the countries where you obtained patents. So if you just go for France and Germany, your invention will not be protected in the rest of Europe. :)

I don't think so. AFAIK you can still file in some country protecting your invention in just that country. Or you can file in one country targeting the whole of Europe, pay a lot more for all the translations and fees, and get protection for the whole of Europe (as always, barring those countries that have chosen not to participate). :)
