Actually not. I am in search of some quality joke.

No Leppie. What was happening before that people were deleting (me too) ROOT thread post if it's getting downvotes to save some votes. But Now you can't delete a root post if it's have at least one reply. Applicable for only ROOT post.

It's always been this way. Once a message has a reply, it can no longer be deleted (the message still exists, but it's content can be removed).

I am talking exactly about this behaviour. Perhaps 5-6 years ago it might have been possible, but not for a very long time.
A change was made about a week ago that stoped you deleting a root message if it had replies. Previously you could "delete" the message, but it wouldn't delete it - it would merely hide the content and show a message "[Message Deleted]". Prior to that (many, many moons ago) deleting would physically remove the post, leaving a headless thread.

I just saw that the delete button is disabled for the post saying Top level messages with replies may not be deleted. Is it new or I am late. Dont throw me out of here if this is old..
It's about a week old. It was made on the suggestion of Luc that many members would post a question, get an answer, then delete their message. This would leave the thread headless and would rob the community of an answered question.

You can still have it. Just that, OP has to edit it instead of deleting. ;P

Maybe there should be a button "Vote to move thread to Soapbox". Just an idea.

Well, the CP lounge qualifies as one of the best places not to look.
