    A change was made about a week ago that stoped you deleting a root message if it had replies. Previously you could "delete" the message, but it wouldn't delete it - it would merely hide the content and show a message "[Message Deleted]". Prior to that (many, many moons ago) deleting would physically remove the post, leaving a headless thread.

      I just saw that the delete button is disabled for the post saying Top level messages with replies may not be deleted. Is it new or I am late. Dont throw me out of here if this is old..

      It's about a week old. It was made on the suggestion of Luc that many members would post a question, get an answer, then delete their message. This would leave the thread headless and would rob the community of an answered question.

        It's always been this way. Once a message has a reply, it can no longer be deleted (the message still exists, but it's content can be removed).
