When people speak welsh the have to use the english term for the more modern technologies, so a conversation may go like this... "Blah blah blah blah fire blah blah blah wheel blah blah blah satellite telly!"

Ah, but they do have 5 words for deep fried potato pieces: 1) Chips. As in "Fish and Chips" 2) Sglodion. As in "Pysgod a sglodion" 3) Supper. As in "Fish Supper" 4) Fries. As in "Do you want fries with that?" 5) Please! As in "Do you want fries with that?" I am waiting to hear "Sglodion and chip supper with fries please!" - it can be only a matter of time. We are talking about a nation that routinely eat chilli and rice with chips, or curry and rice with chips...

Interestingly, Welsh is Saxon for 'foreigner'. Cornwall, is Saxon for 'west foreigner'. However, Cymru is I am fairly sure 'Wales' and 'Welsh' is 'Brith' in their language. (Hence 'Bara brith', 'welsh cack/bread').
