If I had written Cyru, 90% of CP wouldn't have had the slightest idea what I was talking about. What I find particularly embarrassing is that Owen Glendower (AKA Owain ab Gruffydd, lord of Glyndyvrdwy in Merioneth) is a bit of a hero of mine. The last true Prince of Wales. Welsh[^] Welch[^]

Ah, but they do have 5 words for deep fried potato pieces: 1) Chips. As in "Fish and Chips" 2) Sglodion. As in "Pysgod a sglodion" 3) Supper. As in "Fish Supper" 4) Fries. As in "Do you want fries with that?" 5) Please! As in "Do you want fries with that?" I am waiting to hear "Sglodion and chip supper with fries please!" - it can be only a matter of time. We are talking about a nation that routinely eat chilli and rice with chips, or curry and rice with chips...

Interestingly, Welsh is Saxon for 'foreigner'. Cornwall, is Saxon for 'west foreigner'. However, Cymru is I am fairly sure 'Wales' and 'Welsh' is 'Brith' in their language. (Hence 'Bara brith', 'welsh cack/bread').

Is that the land or the people? I believe that Cymru is Wales in Brythonic Celtic, and that their name for themselves is Brith (as in Britain, Prythian, Briezh Bryth or any of the other variants. Hence 'Bara brith' 'welsh bread'.

What I find particularly embarrassing is that Owen Glendower (AKA Owain ab Gruffydd, lord of Glyndyvrdwy in Merioneth) is a bit of a hero of mine. The last true Prince of Wales. Welsh[^] Welch[^]

AKA Lord of 'what the fuck is that'. (By the way, did you know 'dd' in welsh is pronounced 'th'. 'll' is pronounced in an almost impossible to describe way, something akin to 'lchl', but then again, nothing like it... :) )
