I am looking for an intranet portal which provides the following functionality and based on Asp.net. Open source or freeware are preferable but paid will do. -User can see profile of other employees -User can start the thread (just like CP) -News can be broadcasted -Status update like twitter/Facebook (will be good if have it) SO if you are using one or recommend one, would be helpful. I have tried so far following: 1 ScrewTurnWiki 2. Confluence but does not seem to fit into my requirement. Any suggestions?

If you are not criticized, you may not be doing much. Is this "soon" as in "Soon the sun will burn out and turn into a red giant"? - OriginalGriff

Sharepoint 2010. Update: Sharepoint Foundation is free, excepted for hardware and OS licenses (and SQL I guess).

Have you tried Joomla![^] with Community Builder[^]? I think there is a basic version of Community Builder that is free. Joomla! is a great web solution for doing many things. Only downside is that it is not ASP.net but you tend not to find many open source ASP.net products.

http://umbraco.org/[^] The CMS itself is open source and free, but the company is charging for their toolset. Many add-ons are free but some are commercial. It was one among a few that Microsoft recommended at a VS seminar I attended a few months ago. We use it in house for client web sites, and it works well and is flexible.
