My wife and I were at the Apple store looking at Ipads. She spends most of her time on line playing bridge on a site that uses flash. The sales person explained that the Ipad didn't run flash because it isn't a computer, it's a mobile device. ???

The iCrud doesn't run Flash simply because the Evil Hegemony have a product called QuickTime which they are trying to get people to adopt instead of Flash.

??? AFAIK, quicktime is not at all the same as flash. maybe you are confusing with html5 ?

No. I remember this article from when it appeared, I just don't believe that Jobs was solely concerned about the users.

My girlfriend got a iPad for Christmas from her father and can't for the life of her find a good use for it. She brings it along to bars to look stuff up on the web to settle our bets, debates, etc, and that's only becsuse it boots faster than my netbook.

A few weeks ago I would have agreed with that but no longer. I can now read a book with one hand whilst holding on so I don't fall over on the train every time I have to turn the page. It weighs less than a book, remembers where I am without having to turn the corner down or use a bookmark which falls out. I can make the print a comfortable size. I can carry countless books with me so when I finish one I instantly have another to read and I can carry all of my favourite reference books (as they become available on the Kindle) which would weigh my backpack down quite considerably. I don't have to weigh down my luggage with all of our books or lug them home again. My wife and I can share books easily. The book is dead. Long live the Kindle!
