Certainly not as left wing as Hitler.

Couldn't have said it better! Wonder how we'll get the Falklands back next time with a tiny Navy, no merchant navy and 2 shipyards left? Never mind though, at least she deregulated the city, that worked out well. Andy B

It was Brown as Chancellor 14 years ago that did that. Facts boy, Facts!

Wasn't it Maggie that started the privatisations off in the first place or was that someone else? i.e. BT

As barmey as a sack of badgers Dude, if I knew what I was doing in life, I'd be rich, retired, dating a supermodel and laughing at the rest of you from the sidelines.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the 'big-bang' in the city was on her watch too (1986?). Fun as it is to blame the hapless Brown for everything he can only be blamed here for contiuing her policies. Andy B

The Iron Lady[^] Seriously? Meryl Streep? Have they not got an English Actress? Still, Gord Bless 'Er. The Greatest PM ever, she made this country great again, frightened Johnny Foreigner and broke the communist rule of the unions. I am a child of Thatcher's generation, I got off my arse and worked hard, and reaped the rewards. We won't see her like again!

I am a child of Thatcher's generation(born in 1979). Thatcher did a lot of good but also a lot of bad. Her obsession with Privatisation killed Britain. Denis should have been the man she needed and slapped sense into her when she started to get power mad.

sorry if it offends but we cannot afford the "public" sector we have now without adding huge loss making privatised industries to the bill. or do you miss the miners striking every 5 minutes or BL out for a week because someone changed a lightbulb. the problem with public industries is that you need to prevent imports to make them work and once you do you hand control to the unions to blackmail you which they do at any oppotunity.

Utterly untrue. Thatcher deregualted the credit industry because you cant use incterest rates to controll inflation, the very corner stone of her ecconomic policy, and borrowed fromt eh IEA, unless you have people in debt. And it is this easy credit, unfortunately NOT STOPPED by Blair and Brown that is responbsible for todays utter mess. A mess so deep and goey it will take the UK decades to come out of it. And if you dont believe me look at the figures.

"It is a remarkable fact that despite the worldwide expenditure of perhaps US$50 billion since 1990, and the efforts of tens of thousands of scientists worldwide, no human climate signal has yet been detected that is distinct from natural variation." Bob Carter, Research Professor of Geology, James Cook University, Townsville
