Diet soda may be a wise choice for those who are keen to look after their health, but a new study has claimed that sugar-free fizzy drinks could actually raise the risk of having a heart attack or stroke. Doctors have no chemical or biological explanation for why diet soda may be risky. It could be that people who drink lots of it also fail to exercise, weigh more, drink more alcohol or have other risk factors like high blood pressure and smoking. However, the researchers took these and many other factors into account and didn’t see a change in the trend. “According to this study, drinking diet fizzy drinks on a regular basis could pose the same or even higher risk for cardiovascular disease as standard fizzy drinks, providing a word of warning to those who often opt for diet versions in order to be ‘healthy’.” “Everyone can reduce their risk of stroke by consuming a balanced diet and exercising regularly,” Earlier studies have tied diet and regular soda consumption and greater risk of diabetes and a group of weight-related problems. So don't take Diet soda regularly. it is very harmful for health.

Duh. Having said that, you can prove anything you like via a study.

Sadly, I don't know anyone under 50 years of age who reads one book a year. That's troubling to me...

        Will Rogers never met me.

Oh it can't be that bad, can it? I mean I already consider I've stopped reading since I joined college and still go through 5-10 or so a year, on the days when I don't spend 16h in front of the PC, not including all the tech stuff. I mean what else is there to do up to college. Go to school, come home, read, forget to stop reading and go back to school, take weekend nights off for parties. Though thinking back it was mostly because of no internet at home (my parents still didn't get a connection). You can play as much single player as you like but it gets damn boring really fast, books are much more entertaining, especially since it was the one thing I was allowed to stay late for (read: past midnight on school days but usually ended up till "when it's finished" and sleeping @ school).

You are a retard. My use of the word 'duh' would indicate that I don't think aspartame to be good. On the other hand, as I said, a study can prove whatever you want it to.

As I said, you're an ignorant retard. Anyone who thinks that it's impossible for there to be overpopulation, obviously has no grasp on reality. But, you prove my point. Everyone knows that studies tend to prove what they want to, it's just sad that some people use this fact to ignore blatantly obvious facts because they can't face them.

I suppose that he typed it from the newspaper itself. Althought the "Local paper" term was what confused me in the beginning since he did an exceptional "translation". thatraja's post confirmed my suspicions.

Hmm... yes... If you take on thing in isolation it's easy to ignore what is the real cause. Was there a long term controlled experiment or is the link an assumption? This is how urban myths start.

It couldn't possibly be because 61% of people who rely on diet drinks to keep their weight down also do random, sporadic, unstructured heavy exercise and/or eat unhealthy food, could it? Oh, no. Of course not.
