Testers requested for ASP.NET control

Ok, I've knocked up a quick ASP.NET server control to allow users to select their country. But with a twist, it uses the Geo IP database to determine the visitor's country and that's then selected for them. http://www.oobaloo.co.uk/CountryListBox/[^] It'd be great if as many people as possible can give it a go and see how they get on. I've tested it successfully from the UK, and also using an anonymous proxy to return US. -- Paul "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." - David Brent, from "The Office" MS Messenger: paul@oobaloo.co.uk Sonork: 100.22446

Australia checking in. You should sell this to all those web sites that make you fill in a form. I am so sick of having to select my country. And picking Azerbaijan by mistake...

Because of heavy processing requirements, we are currently using some of your unused brain capacity for backup processing. Please ignore any hallucinations, voices or unusual dreams you may experience. Please avoid concentration-intensive tasks until further notice. Thank you.Weird. It detects the country based on an IP address database so it shouldn't be based on regional settings. Could you give me your IP address? (Privately if you don't want to publicise it :-D), I'll follow it up and see what I can dig out manually, it may well be that the address block is incorrectly registered in the database. Thanks for giving it a go (along with everybody else also -- response has been excellent :)). -- Paul "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." - David Brent, from "The Office" MS Messenger: paul@oobaloo.co.uk Sonork: 100.22446

I'm going to clean it up a bit tonight and then write a short article on it -- the actual implementation of the control is extremely simple, the majority of the work is handled by code from MaxMind. Anyway, I'll put it all in the article :) -- Paul "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." - David Brent, from "The Office" MS Messenger: paul@oobaloo.co.uk Sonork: 100.22446
