Hopefully the military won't create another Mubarak, or worse...

Time will tell... In their first statement, they said their goals are to ditch the state of emergency and set up free elections... Maybe they'll come through. The whole thing is already pretty impressive.

Author of the Guardians Saga (Sci-Fi/Fantasy novels)When the G20 summit was in Toronto, many of us saw for the first time in decades how quickly our 'civilization' can be reduced to barbaric times. I know that hasn't been the case for the large part in Egypt, it's amazing to see most of the protesting pulled out without violent conflict. Pretty sobering, all of this. I don't think anyone I work with or around really understands what it would me to have this happen here in Canada. Canadians usually reserve our violence for hockey, so it's weird to see it off the ice. The closest I've ever seen my friends get to being political is when they're lobbying the refs for a hooking call.

Yes but he's a (sort of) politician. You can't believe anything he says. Hmmmmm, does that mean he's not really stepping down?

You and Roger have been downvoted by somebody with higher reputation than myself. After my 5-vote, your rating became 2.33. In any event, great news!

Of course they won't, Mubarak was just a rare exception to the string of bright examples.

Here's a couple of changes in the Egyptian Constitution that we can expect to see. It looks to me like they're shoo-ins from the overwhelming numbers of voters in favor of them.[^]
