Reliable and affordable hosting company

Hi Guys.... I'm at the point of gong bald and sitting with chunks of my hair on the ground next to me with my current hosting company. Following is a brief description of the hell I have been going through the last 2 weeks, so if you want to skip it all, just go to the last two sentences ;) I'm currently doing my hosting via Aplus.net, and the first client that I have where is something involved other than a quick dotnetnuke or wordpress site, a nice little challenge for once, then it turns out a bigger challenge than what I was anticipating. Well... it started that I need a nice sql database, so quickly hop onto their control panel and..... oops, unable to create the domain via the control panel.. get an error. No problem, on chat and they create the domain for me... step one done... domain is registered. Second thing, the database. Back into the control panel to create the database... ooops, unable to create the database via the control panel... get an error. No problem once again on chat, they do something in the backend, ask me to try again, sure thing there I can create the database from the control panel. Nice thing about the package that I have, is that I get a free MSSQL database :-\ , just what I want. Database is created but I'm unable to connect via management studio, back on chat... ok I need IP whitelisting to connect to the database, fine I give them my IP address... while they are busy with whitelisting I get a nice sms, there just went R170 (South African Rand) off my account  . I'm on chat with them so I query this as I'm suppose to get a free database. Yes they tell me, the free database is a 50MB database, and I created a 100MB database, but 100MB was the smallest option that there was, you can choose either 100, 250, 500, 1GB or 2GB database.. Oh they tell me, they will log a support ticket to change the database and then I need to contact their billing department to get the refund. (Still waiting for that to be cleared up) and did I mention that is R170 per month. :omg: :omg: :omg: Now all this happend 2 weeks ago. Every since then I have been having issues connecting to the database where I get that lovely network or instance related error message, so for the last 2 weeks I have been on their chat on a daily basis, re-requesting the IP whitelisting for it appears to reset somehow that they can't explain. So I think it is time for me to move hosting company, so any suggestions for reliable and affordable hosting companies that I can look at? My requirem
I chose to buy my own boxes and colo because of too much pain with hosting companies. One client that I support recently had a server compromised but as it was a leased box (not managed by them) they would not let us near it to rebuild! They also did not offer to do anything to actually help us get the services back up and running. They had no interest in the fact that the server was down. That company has now lost that client, who is now going to buy his own boxes and colo with me managing them.

http://aquesthosting.com Superb, friendly support. Excellent control panel (that works). I've had several sites with them for years. Rarely a problem, and very fast, personal response if there is.

I would also recommend DiscountAsp.net. I have been with them for more than 6 years and I haven't had any real issues (and when I did their customer service has always been great). To give you an idea I have 1 SQL Server database with them (over 420MB and still growing). The good thing is that you can access it from SQL Server Management Studio like if it was a local database. You can also backup (and restore) the database through their contol panel or their API (if you want to automate this process). Regarding their webserver yes you can use .net 4.0 Anthony

I use Mochahost and have not had a problem. Their packages are pretty well built out and reasonable. I have had really good service from customer support as well. They are based out of US west coast though if that matters to you. http://www.mochahost.com/[^]
Ouch ... Mochahost? No way... Unfortunatelly i'm using their service, and everytime i have a problem ( wich is aprox twice a month ), i cannot solve it through their Control Panel ... so, i have to create support tickets ... wait, wait, wait, and then, suddenly, after a month, it's solved ... or not!

You should try Arvixe been with them for a while haven't had any problems. When I did have some minor issues, their support is superb. Here are my reasons I signed up with them: - Excellent Support Team - Very economical. ASP.NET Personal starts at $5.00/month. Heck you can even use coupon code TOPHOST or MVCHOSTING to save 30%. - Free .COM .NET etc domain for each hosting plan. - Supports Classic ASP, ASP.NET 4, ASP.NET MVC, Silverlight Audio/Video Streaming. - Unlimited bandwidth and diskspace. - Unlimited MSSQL, MySQL, Access database. MSSQL 10GB size limit. - Unlimited Email Accounts. - User-friendly Control Panel (DotNetPanel). Arvixe is the best ASP hosting for me hands down. If you don't believe me, then try any of their hosting and if your not satisfied with them then you can get your money back within 2 months no questions asked. I use Rackspace Cloud Sites for myself and my customers and I have to agree. They offer the best hosting solution I've had to date. Cheers, Drew.
but Rackspace cloud charges per hour and that means you can't budget a fix amount per month
