MS should build a personal version of IE and a Corporate one. Hell for most of the products they should do the same. It's because of the huge Intranets that were developed on IE6 and the huge Office Apps/Macros in 2000/2003 that made it very hard for them to inovate. The thing aboug Google be it Android or Chrome(the browser not the OS) that makes it very fast to develop is precisely this. There are no legacy systems they have to worry about. Hey version 2 is out. 2 weeks later hey 2.5. Two more weeks hey 3.0 and so on. It's easy. they just don't care about any of the stuff that ms had/has to. I think that's why they made IE9 only Vista/Wewen compatible. So that the users leave the veteran XP. It had it's days. But it's just too old. And the list of examples could go on and on. Discalmer: NONE. It is my opinion and I stand by it. :)

    All the best, Dan

I've had that happen in IE too. It appears to be more a function of whether you're logged-in to Gmail or not.

What does that even mean? Chrome has the translate feature built in IE is missing it.

      ahmed zahmed wrote:

So? It was an extension at first. Don't be such a crybaby. There will always be feature differences between browser vendors. If it's so important to you then build an extension (plugin) to IE that does what you want.

Yes, but it should be standard by now don't you think? Google agrees so it is a standard part of Chrome.

      ahmed zahmed wrote:

The important thing is compliance to web standards. Profile syncing is *not* a web standard. If profile syncing is so important to you then stick to Chrome or gin-up a plugin for IE that does it.

I guess. But why can't IE9 have spell checking? FF and Opera have had built in spell checking for years. IE9 is a decent product. But in my opinion, it already feels dated and it was just released.

No browser has a translator. Any translation is done by http://translate.google.com and can be used in any browser.

This is done in Chrome by an extension (at least originally) and requires a gmail account. I wonder if an extension for IE is available to do the same.

Personally I'd rather they concentrated on getting the web standards correctly implemented. All these other features can be added by extensions.

You can get a plugin for that here[^]

Unbeleivable. No translator either. And you still can't save your profile in the cloud so it is consistent on all your computers. Great job MS with your new version that is already outdated...

Why bother? Google has that http://www.google.com/toolbar/ff/index.html[^] I wouldn't be surprised if MS has the same features on their msn toolbar so why add it to the browser development. I see why Opera does it since they don't really have third party toolbars (or at least not google, msn toolbar etc.)

You are right, they aren't necessary and I'd be happy just to have the spell checker. But it would be nice if it had them.

That's what kills me though. I code LOB web apps for a living and my company uses IE. It would be nice if the spell check was already included so I didn't have to use a 3rd party component for it in my programs.

                                      Thanks but it didn't work.

Unbeleivable. No translator either. And you still can't save your profile in the cloud so it is consistent on all your computers. Great job MS with your new version that is already outdated...

I'm not sure I'd count translation as an essential feature, but they could definitely put in a spell check that would kick chrome's ass. I think they've been so focused on the designer community that they just haven't delivered much at all for users.

I was just about to post the same thing but found restarting IE after enabling the add-in fixed the issue. Why it couldn't just start working when I enabled it is another story...
