I'll buy the "no spell check" rant, but ... translator?! And saving your "profile" on the cloud?

You are right, they aren't necessary and I'd be happy just to have the spell checker. But it would be nice if it had them.

Unbeleivable. No translator either. And you still can't save your profile in the cloud so it is consistent on all your computers. Great job MS with your new version that is already outdated...

You are actually using machine translation? Unless you like making jokes with it, I don't see a purpose.

i think IE9 is much better than previous IE versions. I am happy with IE9 at corporate level, even though chrome is better for personal use.

That's what kills me though. I code LOB web apps for a living and my company uses IE. It would be nice if the spell check was already included so I didn't have to use a 3rd party component for it in my programs.

Ah, I understand now. Yes it would be nice to not have to make up the differences/deficiences in the different browser implementations. But, as I've noted before you can get spell check for IE here[^].

I'm not sure I'd count translation as an essential feature, but they could definitely put in a spell check that would kick chrome's ass. I think they've been so focused on the designer community that they just haven't delivered much at all for users.

My guess is that some executive thinks giving away a spell checker will hurt MS Office sales. It seems like Office is the only MS product with a spell checker.

I was just about to post the same thing but found restarting IE after enabling the add-in fixed the issue. Why it couldn't just start working when I enabled it is another story...

There's a spell checker available for WPF applications. TextBoxBase supplies SpellCheck.IsEnabled to add spell check support, and with .NET 4 you can even use custom dictionaries.

I'm still annoyed that you have to use flash to get multiple file uploads working on IE9. With Chrome, Firefox and Safari they support the 'multiple' attribute on the file input tag and also support the FileAPI. So it's super simple to support multiple file uploads natively on those non-IE browsers. Maybe the 9 refers to the number of releases it will take them to catch up to the other browsers? And yes, that number will keep increasing

My guess is that some executive thinks giving away a spell checker will hurt MS Office sales. It seems like Office is the only MS product with a spell checker.

I didn't get any requirements for the signature

If so, then the guy is a real 'tard. Anybody with half a brain would see an Office sales boost from using the Word/Outlook spell checker in IE if both products were installed.
