Freezing rain right now, after a snow season with nearly 2m of snow. A guy just walked by my office and said, "Huh, freezin' rain. How'd ya like them apples?" Some streets here have as much as 4-5cm of ice on them, and yet with temperatures hovering around 0C our rinks are all toast, so we can't even play hockey outdoors. :thumbsdown: Probably the worst time of the year in this part of Canada for weather...

Thankfully over 90% of our power lines are underground and all cable/telecom is buried here. Other infrastructure isn't going to hold up to well though, we haven't had much melt and the snow pack is pretty dense. Our city is funding up to 60% of the bill to have backflow valves installed because they know the storm sewer system isn't going to be able to take the load from runoff. Our biggest greenspace in the city (which is about 8 hectares) is being used as a flood plane. They just spent over $3mln on building a dike to divert and retain water into that space, likely rendering it useless for the summer. It's going to be a bleak spring here.
