So I waited and waited and finally picked up a windows phone 7 device ( yey ) Got home and quickly loaded up VS2010 opened the windows phone solution I wrote in anticipation for this device, click deploy and …… Deploy error “…this device is not developer unlocked…” what THE?!? I think to myself, so I google the error and I kid me not they are not shitting me. I need to pay $100 to write code and deploy it to my own phone?!?!? One of the only reasons I was willing to “take” a product that is way behind in features and maturity compared to android and the iPhone was cause I’m an MS kind of guy. Seems that what was great about MS is vanishing. If MS is forgetting about its developers, perhaps it’s time to switch from .net and the whole MS thing to the open world Sooooo pissed. Right now had to vent

What you have discovered has been reported here before. You could have known! But then, what is $100 once your app is selling by the millions? :)

I write Android apps. EVO is a nice phone too as an added bonus.
Need custom software developed? I do custom programming based primarily on MS tools with an emphasis on C# development and consulting. I also do Android Programming as I find it a refreshing break from the MS. "And they, since they Were not the one dead, turned to their affairs" -- Robert Frost

This is exactly the reason thing like MS phones, IPhones, and Android phones annoy me.

Based on the upper limit of what people are prepared to pay for apps, about 40% of your gross.
I'm not a stalker, I just know things. Oh by the way, you're out of milk.

MS is doing us all a favor then, they try and raise the standard. :)

You can unlock your phone if you wanted to, using unofficial tools. In theory the process is reversible, so you shouldn't loose your warranty. Even if you choose not to unlock it, you still own an awesome device, so enjoy it.
