A friend of mine just invested a large amount into this bank: http://www.unifiedfieldbank.com/index.html[^] Something seems fishy, but I can't quite put my finger on it, not being very knowledgeable in this area. Any expert advise? Thanks! Marc

Looks shoddy to me. They'll soon be disappearing with all the money that they managed to receive.

It sounds like credit unions that have hopped on board the "Let's make everything eco-friendly, all-natural, life-sustaining, etc.." bandwagon. Like most marketing, it's slick, sounds nice and has great pictures. The meat and potatoes will be seen when they start reporting profits for shareholders. :)

Someone else posted about something similar a couple of weeks ago clickety[^]. Not that I'm a suspicious person at all, but they sound remarkably similar.

Sounds like they plan to make a lot of money helping people set up banks whose primary goal is something other than making money, then leave them to collapse on their own, bankrupting their former "strategic partners".The good investment here is probably their "Unified Media Parters" arm , but I wouldn't put a dime into the "Unified Field Banks" they're setting up, as these are nearly guaranteed to be losers after they've paid these guys and their Unified Media partners off for their startup services and "Community Engagement" efforts.

I am fully aware that it was you since I provided a link to the thread and, despite my advanced years, am still able to read. At no point have I ever imputed that you were Nigerian.

if it seems fishy, it probably is. "UFB's will be committed by contract and charter to a level of community partnership not seen before by regulators or the public." Yeah, right ...

If the business plan behind the spin is good then it could work. Not unlike the islamic banks that dont charge interest (never mind that much of their lending software uses a module called 'intcal' - I know, I maintained it). Or the Vatican bank and a few others that sprung up in the past few years aiming to be the christian equivalennt to the islamic banks. In the end if this eco bank is a serious venture then its about making money, the eco aspect is not social consience, its just a good hook to target a specific clientelle.

Physicists have been working on a Unified Field Theorem for years...I'm surprised that the site did not mention "Super Collider" and that Investing with them will give you a "Big Bang for your Bucks" (I should trademark that before they do) ;)
