I have recently installed Adobe Reader X. Each time I open a pdf file the Dial-up Connection dialog box opens. Is there any way I can stop this from occurring? I have looked through all the Preferences and done a search on the internet but cannot find anything.

I am the handsome one in the crowd.

Have you tried a Google search yet? I also think that you would have better luck if you actually contacted Adobe about this. If it is a known problem then they probably put the solution(s) in a FAQ page somewhere. Good luck.

It may be checking for an update on startup. You can try changing your dial-up connection settings to not auto-start whenever an internet connection is required (I forgot how that's done, but the last time I used dial-up it was in Windows 98).

          Regards, Nish

It's even annoying on a broadband connection. It appears they've adopted MS Virtual App[^] as their application launcher. :sigh:
