Sounds like fun! The closest I have been to Anasazi village was when Mulder and Scully visited one in one of the X-Files movies (or was it an episode... hmmm).

Well you were quite a ways away, since they actually filmed that in Vancouver, BC!! There was behind the scenes episode where they explained how they filmed it there (had to paint a shitload of rocks that desert pink color).

Is it just me, or does everyone else get an alert that a new version of flash is available every single time I reboot my machine?

I don't get any alerts when you reboot your machine.

I don't get an alert when you reboot your machine. Anybody who does might want to tighten up the security on the ol' firewall.

With Chrome we are liberated from that Adobe reader plugin because it renders PDF inline. Google Chrome should endeavor a native rendered for Shockwave Movies too.

The worst part is that the java updater needs to elevate just to check for a new version, instead of only doing so when it's time to install it.

I don't have a problem with alerts showing. I mean they do, but I don't care all that much when or how often an update is benig installed, as long as that installation doesn't disrupt me or my work. But that it does! I do have a problem that every serious site suggests we should be updating regularly to avoid nasty hacks, but when I do install an update, I am asked to agree to Adobes terms and agreements. I once actually read them and decided these regulations are an abomination, and nobody should be forced to 'agree' to them just to make a product save from external abuse! In fact I am fairly certain that the way these 'agreements' are formulated is illegal in some countries. I really would like to prevent having to sign these 'agreements' over and over again, but since the alternative is to run a possibly unsafe application I really see no way short of deinstalling flash from my PC. Why is it even necessary to comfirm an 'agreement' for every single update, assuming that the original product already came with one? On a similar note, why do games designed for being played by underaged, require reading and agreeing to multiple pages of legalise that even an actual advocate would have a hard time to dig through? And why do these games, too, repeatedly require these 'agreements' with every single update?

I don't (any more). One of Adobe's products attempted to install some 3rd party software recently, without asking my permission. I removed all Adobe software immediately, including Flash, Acrobat Reader, and Adobe download manager. Never shall those products annoy me with an update notice again.

Is it just me, or does everyone else get an alert that a new version of flash is available every single time I reboot my machine?

cheers, Chris Maunder The Code Project | Co-founder Microsoft C++ MVP

Now that you mention it, I am getting Adobe updates almost everyday on my Windows XP at home. Haven't gotten any recently on my Vista at work though.
