Is it just me, or does everyone else get an alert that a new version of flash is available every single time I reboot my machine?

Because of these annoying updates I totally removed any Java or Adobe things from my home computer. Windows has two yellow cards… :-D

Yes, we all noticed it, so please stop rebooting your machine! We are tired of having to deny them when we reboot our owns! --------------- imagine that this situation was true, we'll be getting a flash update every...oh d@Mn!

The worst part is that the java updater needs to elevate just to check for a new version, instead of only doing so when it's time to install it.

I don't have a problem with alerts showing. I mean they do, but I don't care all that much when or how often an update is benig installed, as long as that installation doesn't disrupt me or my work. But that it does! I do have a problem that every serious site suggests we should be updating regularly to avoid nasty hacks, but when I do install an update, I am asked to agree to Adobes terms and agreements. I once actually read them and decided these regulations are an abomination, and nobody should be forced to 'agree' to them just to make a product save from external abuse! In fact I am fairly certain that the way these 'agreements' are formulated is illegal in some countries. I really would like to prevent having to sign these 'agreements' over and over again, but since the alternative is to run a possibly unsafe application I really see no way short of deinstalling flash from my PC. Why is it even necessary to comfirm an 'agreement' for every single update, assuming that the original product already came with one? On a similar note, why do games designed for being played by underaged, require reading and agreeing to multiple pages of legalise that even an actual advocate would have a hard time to dig through? And why do these games, too, repeatedly require these 'agreements' with every single update?

I don't (any more). One of Adobe's products attempted to install some 3rd party software recently, without asking my permission. I removed all Adobe software immediately, including Flash, Acrobat Reader, and Adobe download manager. Never shall those products annoy me with an update notice again.

Now that you mention it, I am getting Adobe updates almost everyday on my Windows XP at home. Haven't gotten any recently on my Vista at work though.

Agreed that it stinks, but if those were end-user desktops, they are just going to re-install it as soon as a website demands it. If only Adobe and MS would play nicer, and make it easier to get third-party updates into a WSUS instance....

I was just going to post a similar comment. I don't mind the updates so much as the fact that every time I let the Adobe Reader update, it puts another shortcut icon on my desktop! I have absolutely no use for a shortcut to Acrobat Reader, and really can't think of a reason for Adobe to insist on putting one out on my desktop without even asking, except for advertising. And while we're on the subject, what's up with this AIR product? I found absolutely no use for it, and got rid of it quickly.

Yes, regularly. I turn off the automatic Adobe "helper" functions that gets set to run automatically every single time an update is done (which means every other day). I always check the task scheduler to remove any unwanted tasks running. They don't need to be set on auto because as soon as you open the browser Adobe Flash will check for updates. Seriously, if updating Flash to patch a possible security breach then I really don't mind, the install is rather painless--at least this is what I think.
