Oracle seems to be having be on a killing spree after acquiring Sun (and hence MySQL which was acquired by Sun). The latest two versions of MySQL for Windows have serious issues in Setup Configuration Wizard. 1) It can not seamlessly cleanup the older uninstallation files and/or overwrite it gracefully. (At least can't it display a graceful message?) 2) It throws an error like 'authentication_string' can not have a default value. And this seems to be a newer bug introduced by Oracle-MySQL team (http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=59038[^])

Oracle Support: Please use Oracle XE instead, it's also free and better than MySQL. :)

Mmmmm, my squirrel. A shame .Net developers are killing all the squirrels and not cooking them properly.

Yes, you can use it for commercial purpose, the only restriction is the database size < 10 GB. and if you have bigger database then you are not looking for free database anyways. :)

Probably just incompetence on Oracle's part. MySQL will carry on: http://netahead.info/blog/index.php?entry=CHhnjFDN[^]

The original authors of MySQL are striking back with a new product - MariaDB. That said, I have yet to look at it, but it claimns to recapture the spirit of MySQL

Are they using the Oracle installer?
