:wtf: She did not call family, friends or at least 911? Surprising for a 9 year old. I do feel sorry for her, but this is still rather odd behavior.

Na, that's not odd. I think in a distressing situation like that a lot of kids would fall back to doing what they do in their routine. A few might think to phone 911 if they saw something bad happen to a parent but in this case there wasn't anything to see. Cheers, Drew.

Friend of my wife died last night, 32 years old, lived alone with her 9 year old daughter. Daughter got herself up and ready this morning, took herself to school and told them she couldn't wake mummy. Sometimes life is just an utter bastard. Sometimes it is on a big scale, sometimes on a small scale. But a bastard none the less.

Sometimes when you hear and see some things, you wonder what the fuck is life up to. Those are the times when atheists can tell me "now explain this". 9 years old, and left alone in this world. My thoughts are with that child. :rose:

My heart goes out to this little girl... :(( I never cease to be amazed by the durability of children. Fate has dealt her a terrible blow, yet she carried on doing what her Mom taught her was the right thing to do. In time, she will feel the loss badly, but with the strength she has already displayed - it had to be very scary to not be able to wake Mommy - I suspect that she will survive and carry on, if only to make her mom proud. My prayers will be with her...:rose:

That's so sad. Is there family who can take her in? My niece was 8 years old when her mother died (she was estranged from my brother in law). Georgia moved in with her father (who'd moved back in with his mother who's now 80), so she's effectively being looked after by a pensioner while her father works. It's been very hard on her, but luckily the school is very understanding and has been a great help to her. Whoever ends up looking after the girl should seek therapy for her. It's a traumatic enough experience for an adult - for a child it's hell.

Exactly. You don't know when you are going to go, you don't know how, just that you will at some point. You can avoid every possible risk you can think of and some undetectable fault inside you may just turn you off with no warning. Appreciate what you have and live it.

Don't know yet, post mortem to come. She had been ill at the start of the week with sickness and diarrhoea, if it is related to that, if that weakened her and caused something else to go, allowed some other bug in, who knows at this point.

Exactly. You don't know when you are going to go, you don't know how, just that you will at some point. You can avoid every possible risk you can think of and some undetectable fault inside you may just turn you off with no warning. Appreciate what you have and live it.
