As I know the oldest man was in Russia, couple years ago, may be 3. He was 120 years old and still alive. He lived in village. But yes, it was Russia, not USA

I think "oldest" implies "currently oldest". :) /ravi

Yes and that meant that somebody else was then the 'Worlds oldest man.' As far as I know, still being alive is one of the main criterea for acheiving the status.

Technically speaking, if you called him the world's oldest living man he would effectively be immortal and never die. Just sometimes be really hard to locate.

The article on Mortensen says he was the oldest living person in the Nordic countries and only second oldest in Europe. On this list[^] he does not even make it in the top 10 oldest people ever... But, and as a man this slightly worries me, he was the oldest MAN ever :|

Actually there's a lot of recent scientific evidence to support this. The human body has evolved to require a state of an empty stomach which triggers all sorts of cleanup and restoration routines in the body. The common "wisdom" of eating like a herbivore and grazing all day is completely backwards. If the body never has a completely empty stomach and fast state it never performs the full clean up and maintenance required for good health. Some are advising one meal a day, two at most and the science backs it up.

There is no failure only feedback

Actually there's a lot of recent scientific evidence to support this. The human body has evolved to require a state of an empty stomach which triggers all sorts of cleanup and restoration routines in the body. The common "wisdom" of eating like a herbivore and grazing all day is completely backwards. If the body never has a completely empty stomach and fast state it never performs the full clean up and maintenance required for good health. Some are advising one meal a day, two at most and the science backs it up.
