I already thought they belonged to Mexico. Actually, I don't think Mexico ever stopped owning those territories. I grew up in LA and went H.S. in LA and we had 2500 students in our H.S. and only 32 were "white" and 11 were "black" and the rest were Mexican and Asian...mostly Mexican. So for all intents and purposes, I grew up in Mexico...so I guess that makes me a quarter Mexican. ;)

Why is everyone so worked up on this? If India has existed for, let's say 7000 years, and in that time they never invaded any country then they sure did not invade any country in the past 100000 years, or long.MaxValue years or any number of years. All that means is that they started it. Even that article acknowleges your army counterattacked and launched an invasion aimed towards Lahore as in the article JSOP mentioned. It also says your army occupied significantly more pakistani territory than they held indian territory (710 vs 210 square miles). The 1971 war was a much larger invasion even if your govt decided not to try and govern Bangladesh after overrunning it. :rolleyes:

If I was a more cynical person I'd suspect that this primarily reflected that since India was almost never under anything approaching a unified govt for most of its history it was much easier to invade rival Indian states than to try and invade across the high mountains and harsh deserts that made your northern and western frontiers. I'd assume the same was true of the jungles to the east, but I don't know enough about the difficulties they'd pose to a pre-industrial military to be confidant in my assessment. :rolleyes:

Again 1971 War was started by Pakistan, they lost so heavily that a new country "Bangladesh" got created from East Pakistan. We took 90,000 prisoners of war(so humiliating isn't it!). East Pakistan conducted huge atrocities and genocide against the minority(specially Hindus). Also your country tried to help Pakistan by sending a naval warship to the Bay of Bengal.
