Well, some people use the "ess cue ell" pronunciation, but I'm a hard-headed mule diehard fan of pronouncing it like "sequel" because that's the name SQL came from initially when IBM created it in the 70's. It was originally called SEQUEL (Structured English Query Language), but had to be changed for copyright reasons. All the sudden, we got SQL. Welcome back Jeremy! I hope this means things are looking up on your side :) Jeremy Falcon wrote: but had to be changed for copyright reasons. Pretty strange too considering that if I launched Mcrosoft, for isntance, I would have the hairs on my arse sued off.

I usually just pronounce it Sequel. As in Sequel Server. However, for the diehard *NIX fans, I usually just act like I care around them and pronounce mySQL as myS-Q-L.

Paul Watson wrote: Welcome back Jeremy! I hope this means things are looking up on your side Thanks, me too. I did get another job, but it's in New Orleans instead of Baton Rouge. So, I guess I'm moving. Funny thing though, as soon as I agreed on this one a better opportunity arose. Herm, I guess I'll have to see about that one. Only thing that sucks is I had to sell my Mac laptop. Some may say that's good; some may say that's bad. Who knows. Paul Watson wrote: So they could not use SEQL but they could use SQL?
