Well, some people use the "ess cue ell" pronunciation, but I'm a hard-headed mule diehard fan of pronouncing it like "sequel" because that's the name SQL came from initially when IBM created it in the 70's. It was originally called SEQUEL (Structured English Query Language), but had to be changed for copyright reasons. All the sudden, we got SQL. I usually just pronounce it Sequel. As in Sequel Server. However, for the diehard *NIX fans, I usually just act like I care around them and pronounce mySQL as myS-Q-L.
