Well, some people use the "ess cue ell" pronunciation, but I'm a hard-headed mule diehard fan of pronouncing it like "sequel" because that's the name SQL came from initially when IBM created it in the 70's. It was originally called SEQUEL (Structured English Query Language), but had to be changed for copyright reasons. All the sudden, we got SQL. Welcome back Jeremy! I hope this means things are looking up on your side :) Jeremy Falcon wrote: but had to be changed for copyright reasons. Pretty strange too considering that if I launched Mcrosoft, for isntance, I would have the hairs on my arse sued off.

Only thing that sucks is I had to sell my Mac laptop. Some may say that's good; some may say that's bad. Who knows. Paul Watson wrote: So they could not use SEQL but they could use SQL? Sequel or S-Q-L, depending on who you ask. If you're talking about SQL Server, then "Sequel." If you're talking about MySQL, then "My S-Q-L." Jon Sagara When I want something, I just go out and buy it. That makes me a go-getter. -- My sister

I'm sorry David, but your are wrong. The proper way to pronounce SQL is sequel, see-kwel. Jason Gerard "This almost never matters, except quite often."

I have heard Sequal, and Squal. What is the correct way? Darroll

Sequal - Anders Money talks, but all mine ever says is "Goodbye!"
