EDIT #2: NOTE: Ok, to make everyone happy, here is the link again with the full URL: Candid article/interview with Bill Gates[^] He confirms he's giving away his fortune to charity, and is giving his kids 'only' $10 million a piece. I wouldn't mind receiving 'only' $10 million... Funny quote: "I drive myself around town in a normal Mercedes. I’ve had a Lexus. The family has a Porsche, which is a nice car that we sometimes take out." A 'normal' Mercedes? What's a 'normal' Mercedes?! Or, I guess the real questions is, what is an 'abnormal' Mercedes! ;)

My parents drive a normal merc. It didn't cost very much, is worthless as a px but gives them reliable motoring. Probably not what B&M drive.

I think he's done enough work to deserve a nice car. It's better than being irresponsible and buying something just as extravagant with loans you can't pay back, which seems to be the norm in this country. By normal, not armored?

One owned by me would be an abnormal Mercedes. At the moment that is based on cost but if I could afford it I wouldn't have one based on current build quality.

Out of curiousity, why link to a shortened URL and add a text description of where the URL points to rather than just pointing directly to the destination URL?

Gates isn't the only one. Gene Simmons is doing something similar: Gene Simmons Will Not Make His Children Rich[^] The kids are basically setup with an allowance to cover the basics. Encouraged to work from there if they want more.

Out of curiousity, why link to a shortened URL and add a text description of where the URL points to rather than just pointing directly to the destination URL?

Originally I shortened the URL to post it on Twitter, since the original is far too long for there. Charity? What a horrible waste. If I had that kind of money I'd build a Dr. Evil style moon base.
