I came home yesterday to find that my son decided to pull out most of the ferns I had planted two years ago. He and his sister had a field day with them and the branches and leaves were all over the front lawn - and he wants to know why my hair is greying and why I talk to myself.

Yeah, I pulled out one of my mom's mum plants once. I was a bit younger and was tasked with weeding her gardens while my parents were away, and I could have sworn she told me to pull that thing out. It took me a good 30min just to get it out of the ground. The whole time I was thinking, "This is one helluva weed."

Kind of like a dachsund, her toy hamburger and a set of tracks through the new sidewalk's concrete... Sometimes its laugh or cry

They may leave but they are never gone.

When I was 17 a schoolmate's parents went away on holiday so of course he had a party. Got a little out of hand with some fighting with attempted gate-crashers before police turned up and they legged it, then we smoothed things over with the police and quietened down. Place was a bit of a mess, house and garden, but we got it all tidied up in plenty of time. Then his parents came home and spotted something amiss almost immediately - the large bush in the garden that had not been there when they went away. Never did found out where it came from or who brought and planted it.

Every man can tell how many goats or sheep he possesses, but not how many friends.

We had the same problem with our 3 yo daughter. So we gave her to plant herself some beans in the garden and watering them and watching them growing. Now she never pulls out any plants, not only her beans.

Remember, it's not "talking to yourself." It's "thinking out loud." And it's not a problem until the day you're looking around asking... "Hey! Who said that?" :-D

Last night on the way home my 5yo was asking if I could set up the pool as it was "getting hot outside" and I said, well, not sure since it takes a while to set up and fill (an above ground 12ft dia or so). He lamented of course. Then I said, we could throw some water in the small kiddie pool. This is a pool that is made from the material used for blow up floating water chairs. . ..a vinyl or vinyl like material. The pool has blow up sides and is for small children with it being 3ft or so in diameter and shallow. . .that type of thing. So to this he says no, we can't use that as it has a hole in it. I said "How do you know?" He replied that he had poked it with a thing from the wooden rocking horse (one of many heavy thumb tacks that the horse has to attach the reins taht have loosened up). After confirming that it was really one of those tacks. . .. .and that he really did poke a hole in the pool with it. . . .I asked how many holes. Well. . .it was more than one lets just say.
