*You* are the one that read race into it. I didn't put it there. It's not the way I read it nor understood it. Maybe that makes me a simpleton, but that's the way my mind works. I don't read race into everything I see or read.

OMFG. you post that and then you accuse other people of prejudice? you insult all welfare recipients and then complain that people don't take the time to learn about you, your motivations, or the specifics of your situation ? srsly? i mean, you just dropped a blanket insult, calling welfare recipients lazy, foreign, bastards and we're prejudiced?

it's impossible not to read race into it. the thing is full of racial stereotypes, and it has a long history of use as a racist joke. if that wasn't your intent, fine. i'll take your word for it. but maybe reading a little closer next time would be prudent.

No, it's not impossible. Get your mind in the right place.

Only if you are someone who sees sterotypes in everything...

Perhaps so, but as I said I wasn't aware of that and I wouldn't have posted it had I been. At least not in it's posted form.

          Chris Losinger wrote:

Perhaps, but my way of reading things like this is usually anti-gov't and I would tend *not* to see racial/prejudicial slants in things. My intent was a humorous jab at the gov't welfare system, not anything/anyone else.

I didn't insult any welfare recipients. There you go again assigning motives. I insulted the welfare system, not it's recipients.

I can't move it, and I wouldn't as I don't think anything is wrong with the joke. But I see some prejudiced perps downvoted to have the message removed.

This was a joke referring to the joke a few threads below in it's part "or what?". You probably haven't seen the previous thread, otherwise you have no excuse for not getting it.

Actually I did see that thread, but didn't get the reference due to the vitriolic response of certain other CP members throwing my thinking off-kilter. Good joke, even if it had to be explained to me.
