I'm leaving, just had enough. There are others who have left without saying but I decided I owe it to the good folks here (Chris, Pete, DD, DaveAuld, Griff and others) to say why. Basically there is an element of blatant elitism that turns into attacks/ridicule on others whether it be blondes or Visual Basic. I have been told to my face I can't do my job because of my hair colour wirth response that I should just live with it or sink to their level. Also Visual Basic, whether it is VBA or VB.NET, has it's place for different users yet some here decide they can ridicule anyone who touches it. These are two examples of an underlying attitude I do not wish to be associated with so goodbye everyone and take care. I have asked Chris to delete my account. Elaine :rose:

Elaine, we would be sad to see you go. Deep breaths and ignore the morons. I use VB all the time and put up with the ridicule. As you can see from my profile pic, I am Ashtray Blond. It will be a sadder place without The Pussycat! If you are finally off then best wishes, but pop back from time to time as a guest and say hello!

NO, No, no! You can't leave. You gave me some very good advice regarding my daughter's driving. It's people like your good self that make these forums what they are when looking for good solid advice.

I use VB all the time (only because I have to), and consider myself to have license to ridicule the language. Maybe that's why I'm more okay with having people (like you) make the occasional offhand comment about it.

I hope that this is really just part of your not being terribly well at the moment and that when you start to feel better, you will reconsider. I, for one, shall miss you.:rose::rose:

A shame to see you go. Don't let those idiots bother you, I used vb.net daily (hell it's my job) and don't care about what they say about it, it pays the bills and in the end that's all that matters. Hope you'll change your mind but if not, best of luck with all your future projects (private or work related) :)

I always pictured you as a brunette, but don't ask me why. I've observed that hair color has no bearing on a person's abilities or proclivities. Regarding VB, if you code in it and like it, that's fine. I code in it and most definitely don't like it, which is also fine. Everyone here that pays attention knows my current job requires it, and that I don't like, and I get a certain amount of good-natured flac for it. I didn't even know you coded in VB - or I had forgotten. I think you're overreacting.

You should offer them a closer look at the hair color as you head-butt them in the nose.

I know I have made the odd comment about VB, and if I am one of those you refer to here, I tell you would never ridicule those who work with the language, I just enjoy poking fun at the language because I am burdened with the maintenance of several poorly written legacy systems written in vb. You will be missed.

I am fully aware that you are way more comfortable with C#, (I use it occasionally), but I am forced to use VB at work because a) XL VBA and b) boss likes to be able to follow the code and he can't use C#. I understand exactly what you are saying. Elaine. This is not the Code Project that used to exist and the vicious and personal attacks that you and others have undergone is not to be born. I will miss reading your thoughts and ideas which have always made me think even (or especially) when we didn't agree.
