i've heard that. it makes no sense, however. if the number is important, they could've just called it FF v4027 and dared the others to follow.

To us programmers this may be the case, but when it comes to mere users they will probably fall for the marketing crap.

So far, no one seems to have cracked this! The unofficial awesome history of Code Project's Bob! "People demand freedom of speech to make up for the freedom of thought which they avoid."

I upgraded but I have not noticed any difference from 4.0.X good or bad.

Yup, people tend to think that frequently upgraded application is bug free.
You can flame me whichever way you want and I wouldn't care a bit. But if you group me with some idiots, I'll turn into your worst nightmare.

Nobody seems to have noticed, but they appear to have removed the built in Profile Manager (link[^]). It seems you need to download it separately. Not a big thing, but since I have always used at least two profiles (work & leisure) it annoyed me just enough to go back to Chrome as my primary browser for the time being :)

It seems good... no issues. Some of the addon gets disabled after the upgrade, that you can enable.

You should upgrade immediately! It's open source! They know better than you! Do as they say!

I have upgraded it a week before. It seems good and nothing more changes.

No problems here.

Did the "Do not track" request come in this version or 4?

I think that is supposed to be a 5.0 feature. However I have not seen that in action in the week or so I have used FF 5 and I do not really know what it does or why I would want this.

It's a manual setting so yours might not be switched on.

If that was not on by default I did not turn it on.. Edit: The tracking feature in the privacy options is off.

At the rate Chrome changes (i think it is 6 weeks between major rev increment), they will have to put the foot down!

Shifting directly from 1st gear to 6th isn't generally recommended...

I also noticed nothing new but had no problems. You should still upgrade. I also looked up what has changed: Added support for CSS animations The Do-Not-Track header preference has been moved to increase discoverability Tuned HTTP idle connection logic for increased performance Improved canvas, JavaScript, memory, and networking performance Improved standards support for HTML5, XHR, MathML, SMIL, and canvas Improved spell checking for some locales Improved desktop environment integration for Linux users WebGL content can no longer load cross-domain textures Background tabs have setTimeout and setInterval clamped to 1000ms to improve performance Fixed several stability issues Fixed several security issues http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/5.0/releasenotes/[^]

I had one issue after I upgraded to FF5 from FF4 on my Mac: Slingbox client balked until I restarted FF in 32-bit mode. I went through this on Safari when it went 64-bit in Snow Leopard, so I'm used to the issue. Never run Chrome, can't say what happens there.
