Just realized that there is a non-English language section in Code Project (it's the last one in the main menu on the left side). I have never noticed it before, it could have been there a long time. There are currently two items in the section, Chinese topics and Indian topics. Most of Chinese topics are in Mandarin or Cantonese, can't tell. As expected. All Indian topics are in English, which is again hardly suprising. Strangely, Indian section is listed under 'non-English' section. It might be worth changing the title in that menu ...

No, that's not English. It's a mess of TxtSpeak and something that LOOKS like English.

Correction: They haven't figured out yet if they are British, American or French and so use a mix of all three of them! We Belgians are not better off with Dutch, French and German and now also English as it has been upgraded to second language last week I think.

The real sticking point I have with Canadians is the fact that they speak English, but measure distances in Kilometres, which as any fule kno, is quite unacceptable. Even our American Cousins haven't fallen so low as to use a system of measurements invented by post revolutionary unemployed hairdressers.

Not quite. This is mostly nonsense and meant to be funny. Real Denglish is actually meant to sound cool, but usually only proves that the author has no clue to either language. For example some marketing genius called a woman's handbag a 'body bag'. The humor there was totally involuntary. In some old code I found the method FillKunde(). We still are arguing how to properly cook a filled customer.

No, total nonsense, but I can immagine that it's almost as funny to hear as when most Anglo-Saxons try to speak real German. None of the teachers in highschool could even remotely pronounce my last name and since then I only met one American who had spent half his life in Germany who could.

One of GIT's aims is to try and reduce the TxtSpeak popular among younger Indian CPians. As for the "looks like English", that's because Indian-English is derived from pre-1940s English (and by English I mean the language spoken in England at that time) and is quite different from American dialects.

There was a TV program on the BBC this week which included a guy that added curries to his restaurant menu in the 1970's - "we got all of the special spices - cumin, ...., garam masala etc - then cooked everything in lard (pig fat)!"

I was told that when I speak German I sound very well spoken. (Although I learnt it when I was actually living there, that helps).

There was a TV program on the BBC this week which included a guy that added curries to his restaurant menu in the 1970's - "we got all of the special spices - cumin, ...., garam masala etc - then cooked everything in lard (pig fat)!"

 BTW, many Hindus in India do eat pork (the pig's not considered holy), but India has a large Muslim population and so pork's not so commonly available except in the states of Kerala and Goa.

Sounds like you are confusing Indian with Muslim.
