How on earth does that happen? I should probably think of moving to Italy :)

Again, it is part time (I suppose there are other countries where it is allowed as well). :)

I worked 11.2 hours yesterday. I usually average 9-10 hours a day and only get paid for 8...go figure. How many hours a day do you work on average?

Had a place once that tried to tell me they require 10 hours per day but only pay for 8. Worse yet, the manager said my family life was a conflict of interest for me working longer. I told them to go to hell.

Not quite, that was a thread about the ideal working week, not what people actually do. And good idea :)

Scheduled to work 8 hours a day, but work about 9. The position is salaried but we are treated like hourly. I must admit that the new IT Directory has helped at making the job more like a salaried position. As noted this subject was discussed a few days back.

I see that now but I was to busy working on that day to have noticed. :-D

I get paid to do 7½ so 7½ I generally do. It's flexi-time so if I am in the middle of something at 5.30 I tend to stay and finish it and then go home early another day that month. I don't see the point in working for longer than you're being paid for, though – if they want you to work for longer then have something in the contract to that effect and pay you properly for it!

It depends, but usually 10 to 12 hours. Then again, I own the company so I'm a statistical outlier.

I have 'informal' flexi. There are two ways to approach it in my mind; 1. You have required hours and if more is needed they pay you for them. 2. You have required hours and if more are required then you can do less when they are not (formal or otherwise). I would not work for a company that only took and didn't give.

It's true unfortunately. The sheer amount of red tape I have to wade through, and crap out of the government that I have to review is staggering.

just over 8. Stopping exactly when the clock says to and forgetting what you were working on instead of going a few minutes to get something wrapped up is rather wasteful. Besides which, when I'm in the middle of a coding cycle I tend to be only vaguely aware of the time.

Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason? Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful? --Zachris Topelius

Yes, I agree. I'm happier with the second because we all know that problems don't work a perfect 9-5, but I still like to have a limit on how many hours I spend working, to make sure I don't over-do it if things are a bit hard.

I worked 11.2 hours yesterday. I usually average 9-10 hours a day and only get paid for 8...go figure. How many hours a day do you work on average?

I should do 8 hours 24 a day, but usually it makes more. I'm excluding 1.30 hours comuting every day...
