I'm kind of disappointed by that picture. That's kind the same regular naked Bob visiting India. I'd like to see Bob dressed as an Indian guy :)

There's no free lunch. Let's wait for the dinner. Take a look at Silverlight Menu4U here in The Code Project.

Me too, but that kind of begs the question what would Indian Bob look like? From memory most of the images used play on certain stereotypes that 'we white folk' have about countries. What would Indian Bob look like, and would it be considered offensive, if you asked me I'd stick him in a beard and a turban, with a pipe in his hand and a basket with a snake coming out at his feet. Of course you could have something nicely designed by a friendly Indian person, but then would it be universally recognisable as Indian?

Every man can tell how many goats or sheep he possesses, but not how many friends.

Feather headress and a wigwam? C'mon... All he needs is a pair of round specs and a dhobi. Or if you really want to be racist, a cricket bat and a duck. Look all you really need is an Indian flag draped around him, a flowery lei type thing (Sorry guys, don't know the proper name) and degree from Calcutta university.

Yes, that was definitely a sad day for my country when India had nothing left to pilfer.

Ah well you see, I got all my knowledge about what it is like in India from watching It Ain't Half Hot Mum.

Considering the number of members here from India, it would have been a nice touch to have Bob holding the Indian Flag for today :) Best wishes of the day to all CPians from India!

You are quite right, a Dhobi is a Laundryman.

This was suggested in the Suggestions forum, but I think a few people said that in general people may not want to see a themed Bob for festivals/special days they are not familiar with. And to maybe do it on an IP-based basis. So anyone from India would see the Independence Day Bob. Not sure I like that idea since I do not live in India but would still like to see the logo.

                            Regards, Nish

Which raises the question of which 24 hours. The 24 hours of the date in local time India, in this instance, or the 24 hours of the date in local time Toronto or wherever CP happens to be based at the time. All that, of course after all the Indian members have agreed on what constitutes suitable garb to represent India (I raised this last year) and CM agreeing with that choice.
