My girlfriend and I broke up last night. The last 2 years and 2 months I have spent every weekend with her. It is now sunday and I am alone, a bit sad and pretty bored. I was thinking of writing a CP article (I'm working on a useless, but fun bit of code, just for practice), but whenever I start the solution I feel like I should be doing something more active. Wanted to fix my flat bicycle tire, but I'm all out of fixing materials (and shops closed on sunday). All my friends are out because the weather is hot and sunny (and beach is not an option for me, I don't like the sand, the water, the sun, the people...). And I don't feel like doing anything alone because I want to get away from my own thoughts right now... I feel like I have four options... Watch a movie, play a video game, work on my code or call my ex and beg her to take me back. Seeing it like that it seems that working on my code is least likely to give me any regrets. Computer, you really are my best friend! :(

    It's an OO world.

Ah to be young again - don't worry as you get older the emotional pain reduces (the financial on on the other hands expands).

Dumbest possible move - possibly tell her you are bored but IMHO begging just does not work.

Sad, definitely sad. Entertainment, work object, sure but friend! Go out for a walk, wander into a pub you have never been in and have a beer.

This village has only one pub, I wonder if it is open on sunday (I live in a bible belt) and I don't drink alcohol. Thanks for the suggestion though, it doesn't sound half bad ;) After just typing my original post I started working on my code again. Having fun with collections, implementing everything from IEnumerable to IDictionary. Definitly going to make an article about it :) I also texted a friend, going to watch a movie tonight. Today might not be such a bad day after all. I just need to get my mind off things

Sorry to hear that. As suggested before, go for a drive or a walk. Try and occupy your mind. I know its easier said than done, but watch back to back movies or start playing games. See if you can get in touch with some old male friends and go out to drink or something.

Sorry to hear that. As suggested before, go for a drive or a walk. Try and occupy your mind. I know its easier said than done, but watch back to back movies or start playing games. See if you can get in touch with some old male friends and go out to drink or something.

Why not just the friends of my own age ;) I never let women come between me and my friends. Just to bad they are all out when I need them most ;P I'm seeing a movie with a friend tonight, and I've started working on my code again. I'll manage. Thanks for the heads up :)

" Abhinav S wrote: some old male female friends" A better idea. Sympathy sex is as good,or sometimes better, than any other kind. Seriously, this sounds like your first breakup from a major relationship. Like with any other transition in your life it consists of three phases; mourning the end of the previous, confused time where there is termoil in your life, and dawn of a new beginning. The mourning phase is the hardest to deal with. As I suggested a sympathetic female friend may be the best way to navigate that phase. It additionally adds a sense of finality to the breakup as she will never take you back if this female friend is also a friend of hers. This works with ex-wives also. The confused phase, in my case, usually consists of trying new things. As long as you don't end up serving time in jail just about anything that strikes your fancy will do. The new beginning will follow naturarly. I know this all seems hard to deal with right now, but after the third or forth breakup you start to roll with it. It is all part of life. P.S.- what is your ex-gf telephone number? :~ <SORRY> I couldn't help myself. </SORRY>
