        So what happens when 4chan passes an obscure law banning geology? Or when the number of potential laws numbers in the hundreds of thousands, and very disturbing laws start passing with only one vote because the sheer volume meant that the only person to notice it was the person who made it?

        OK, so how about a pre vote qualifier, ie, a bill needs 1000 signatures before it goes to an internet vote?

        ============================== Nothing to say.

                  Thankfully the media here tends to ignore pollys personal life to a much larger degree than either the US or the UK. It is unlikely a polly would be sacked for having a mistress or an escort for instance. Paying for the hooker with the govt CC on the other hand is frowned upon.

                    So 1000 people have to vote for it before anybody can vote for it?

                      Where as being lied to one every four years, and then dictated to for the next three years twelve months three weeks and six days is infinitely preferable,

                          If you want to introduce a new loaw today you can raise a petittion, get a few thousand signatures and take it to the prime minister for it to be raised in the house of commons. I am merely suggesting extending that to the entire country, and taking out the house of lords, commons, and the queen. :) Lets face it, traditional politics was based against a backdrop of the 15th century. It is just not relevant today.

                            Yes, I have noticed how your primary media export, Sir Rupert Murdoch, soars high above the tabloid mentality. :rolleyes: I suspect that's there;s less governmental sex scandal down under simply because our leaders have more of a propensity for getting caught in flagrante delicto than yours. Although you and Josh are far more knowledgeable about Oz than I'll ever hope to be, I don't get the impression than your elected leaders have decided that they are part of the new aristocracy and thus above the laws they make and the morality they insist others live by.

                              I don't think this has happenned yet, certainly some of the business (mining) leaders are pushing towards the oligarch model but they do keep it low profile, mostly. The pollies tend to be more vulnerable (less of a monetary buffer b/c they do not need to be extroardinarliy wealthy before they can go for high office) and therefore less blatant in their theivery.
