The term "smoking-gun" is a reference from 19th century literature, describing a just-fired weapon as "smoking". Gun smoke is created as a result of both the chemical composition of gun power from that era, and the burning off of various gun cleaning/lubrication checmicals due to extreme heat caused by the discharge of the weapon. Powder nowadays is smokeless, and advances in cleaning solvents and oils somewhat inhibits the production of resulting smoke/vapors, thus allowing faster follow-up shots.

So I guess that means you don't blow the end of your gun after shooting then? :sigh:

Abu Adam! I'm pretty good mate, actively looking for a job in North America (which will be the subject of my next post) as I plan to move in a month's time. How are things at your end? How's the tiny tot? :)

... they were discussing names for Windows 8. I just assumed we do the same as for Windows 7. It got the nickname 'Weven'. So Windows 8 should be 'Weight'

With their plans to make W8 a tablet OS which is somehow desktop compatible, the name of the next mass OS will be AFD (Android For Desktops).

It must have been fun to use a Gatling in those times. After a few hundred rounds you had to take a short break and let the smoke clear up before you could aim again.

Not so tiny, it's his 6 month birthday ( I'm off to buy a cupcake and will add half a candle as a joke)today, but for his age he's tall. He's begining to turn into a cute mini-human being now rather than an ultra-cute eating and excreting machine. It's the sweetest thing when they smile and interact. He's also threatening to crawl which is going to be a problem give how small and crowded our flat is. [edit] Must meet up if you are about. Ramadan was a killer BTW.

Bless him! Their smiles are what make it worth all the effort! At his age, diaper consumption still hasn't peaked, take it from me. Hehe, Mattie is now 10mo and he doesn't crawl so much as staged rolls on to his bum, quite ingenious and lazy! :D

Well, with Weven, we wemoved wone wetter... (Sorry, the alliteration was getting to me)... So, keeping with that pattern, Windows Eight becomes... Wight[^]: 1. (archaic) A living creature, especially a human being. -- Does this mean Wight ==> Skynet? 2. (paganism) A being of one of the Nine Worlds of heathen belief, especially a nature spirit, elf or ancestor. -- That gives me a kind of Lovecraft vibe... Is Microsoft going to spawn Cthulu? 3. (poetic) A ghost or other supernatural entity. -- So basically, it's a manifestation of evil that will creep its way into our computers, possess them, and slowly corrupt them from the inside... But I thought we'd already covered that with Vista. Whichever definition you follow, it sounds like bad news... I think we should all wait for Wine.

Ghosts don't have to be evil. Perhaps this will be the Windows version of Caspar. Or... is that worse? Clippy and all that. Hmm...

... they were discussing names for Windows 8. I just assumed we do the same as for Windows 7. It got the nickname 'Weven'. So Windows 8 should be 'Weight'

                                        With Eight you get eggroll.

It must have been fun to use a Gatling in those times. After a few hundred rounds you had to take a short break and let the smoke clear up before you could aim again.
