Don't you just love it

When you do something as requested, then it get shown to people, then they have a big argument, then you get told to make changes, against your better judgment, and against your strongly worded email warnings, then several months later you get told to put it back to how it originally was.
Every man can tell how many goats or sheep he possesses, but not how many friends.
The "I told you so" can be quite satisfying ... it depends how hard the change is to make and reverse, really. Fortunately in this company I generally get listened to if I have a real objection to some part of a request, and don't have to write the wrong version in the first place.

Large and old organisation. Decisions taken in the wrong place and by the wrong people who are remote from the system and after listening to the wrong people who often have their own agenda. It can be painful at times.

Actually, PO'H came up with the games' names last night.

Isn't this why version control is in use? ;P

Bloody thing hasn't gone live yet. Just several iterations of what they loosely claim to be testing.

Version Control doesn't necessarily have to imply live/production/golden source code. If you went through a lot of my code base, you'd find stuff checked in on branches, that in a lot of cases never goes live. I've also got examples of branches that sit for years before a request to implement the code happens. The only real downside to it all, is occassionally there will be merge conflicts that become tough to figure out. :)
