Now that I'm officially a grad student at University of Wisconsin (online), do have to quit cheering for the San Diego Chargers, and become a Packers fan? Or does that only apply if I watch college football?

Hell, Bryce, I've never even seen a rugby match! They don't show 'em here, and nobody would care if they did. Call it a girly game if you will, but a lot of these guys weigh in at 15 stone or more, so player protection is definitely an issue. Besides, it's all we've got... Go, New Zealand! Whoever you are.

Don't listen to Bryce. NZ will loose to France in the semis (again) and Australia will win. I think the more pertenant question here is are you able to drink enough alcohol to qualify as a student? If the answer is yes, you won't even remember which sport you are following, let alone what team.

Roger, you have to forgive Bryce, like most fanatical sport supporters he is extremely focused on his favourite game. Add to that he is a Kiwi living in Oz having to put up with all the sheep jokes and now here is NZ playing at home in his favourite sports world class event and they are/should be favourite to win. I know the US has "World Championships" of all sorts of domestic sports but the Rugby one really is a global competition, if NZ win he is going to be completely insufferable for the #n months.

Nope. Especially since you are an on-line student. As far as I am concerned there are no rules of fandom. Support the teams you like.

You could always support the USA. They're in Pool C with Australia, Ireland, Italy and Russia; their opening match is Sunday vs Ireland.

I once snapped my ankle at the bottom of a collapsed maul in a varsity match - only to be told by my "team mates" afterwards that it was my own fault for cutting inside and getting involved in the real match rather than the nancy stuff I normally got up to. (I was a winger in my day - although that was a looooong time ago)

I am pretty, so you can tell I was a back. I was a wing three quarter, although occasionally played Stand Off.

Now that I'm officially a grad student at University of Wisconsin (online), do have to quit cheering for the San Diego Chargers, and become a Packers fan? Or does that only apply if I watch college football?

                                          Will Rogers never met me.

Well I used to live in San Diego and I've never seen these "Chargers" of which you speak.
